The bookkeeping firm Brooklyn Center business owners actually trust.
H&S Bookkeeping is a Brooklyn Center–based accounting and bookkeeping firm founded by certified bookkeeper Holly Holister. We serve small business owners, nonprofit directors, and corporate finance teams across Hennepin County who need clean books, accurate payroll, and stress-free tax preparation — without the price tag of a downtown Minneapolis CPA firm.
From our office on Bass Lake Road in the 55429 ZIP code, we work with clients throughout Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Robbinsdale, New Hope, and the broader Twin Cities metro.
Our services were built around the way real Minnesota businesses actually operate — quarterly tax filings, multi-state payroll, seasonal cash-flow swings, nonprofit grant accounting, and the everyday mess of receipts, statements, and reconciliations. We use industry-leading accounting software, hold our work to certified bookkeeping standards, and stay current on federal and Minnesota state regulations.
Whether you're a sole proprietor on Brooklyn Boulevard, an S-corporation off Highway 100, or a nonprofit operating out of the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center, we deliver the experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) your finances deserve.

Brooklyn Center
A first-ring suburb with deep Minnesota roots.
The land that became Brooklyn Center, Minnesota was originally part of Brooklyn Township (organized 1858) and Crystal Lake Township (organized 1860). Pioneers settled along Osseo Road — later renamed Brooklyn Boulevard in 1969 — centering community life around a school, post office, store, meeting hall, and Baptist and Methodist churches. Market gardening became the chief economy, fed by Minneapolis's rapidly growing demand.
On February 18, 1911, residents formed the Village of Brooklyn Center from southeastern Brooklyn Township and northeastern Crystal Lake Township. The vote took place on the farm of Earle Brown — who would go on to serve as Hennepin County Sheriff and help found the Minnesota State Patrol in 1929. His farm later became the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center — designated a state historic site in 1974.
Population grew from 500 in 1911, to 4,300 in 1950, to 24,356 in 1960 after the post-WWII suburban boom and the 1960 opening of Brookdale Shopping Center, a Dayton's-developed mall that anchored the community for decades. On December 8, 1966, Brooklyn Center adopted a city charter. Today the city covers 8.5 square miles, and it has earned recognition as the most ethnically diverse community in Minnesota.
