For the small businesses, contractors, and nonprofits of Minnesota's sixth-largest city — H&S Bookkeeping delivers precise records, on-time payroll, and clean tax-ready books from our office just minutes south on Bass Lake Road.
The bookkeeping firm Brooklyn Park business owners actually trust.
H&S Bookkeeping is a Twin Cities accounting and bookkeeping firm founded by certified bookkeeper Holly Holister. We serve small business owners, nonprofit directors, contractors, and corporate finance teams across Brooklyn Park, Minnesota — Hennepin County's third-largest city and the sixth-largest city in the state — who need clean books, accurate payroll, and stress-free tax preparation.
Brooklyn Park stretches from the Mississippi River on the east to Maple Grove and Osseo on the west, covering 26.5 square miles and home to over 30,000 jobs. We work with clients across all three districts — West, East, and Central — from our office in neighboring Brooklyn Center.
Our service mix was built around the way real Minnesota businesses actually operate: quarterly tax filings, multi-state payroll, seasonal cash-flow swings, nonprofit grant accounting, contractor 1099s, and the everyday mess of receipts, statements, and reconciliations. We use industry-leading accounting software, hold our work to certified bookkeeping standards, and stay current on federal and Minnesota state regulations.
Whether you operate a manufacturing facility off US-169, a healthcare practice near North Memorial, a contractor based off Highway 610, or a retail shop in the Edinburgh district, we deliver the experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) your finances deserve.

Brooklyn Park
From Brooklyn Township to Minnesota's sixth-largest city.
The land that became Brooklyn Park, Minnesota was originally home to the Ojibwe people before being opened to settlers in 1852. In 1853, fourteen pioneer families arrived from Adrian, Michigan — at the time part of Brooklyn Township, Michigan — and at an organizational meeting in 1858, they adopted the name "Brooklyn Township" for their new home, which traces back to Brooklyn, New York. One early notable was Pierre Bottineau, a fur trader and voyageur whose presence gave the area the early name "Bottineau's Prairie."
Early industries included sawmills, an ice-harvesting operation, and a boom house for sorting Mississippi River logs. The town stayed primarily agricultural — farmers were drawn by the loamy, easily-tilled soil — until the post-WWII suburban era. In 1911, the southeastern portion split off to form the Village of Brooklyn Center. The remainder was incorporated as the Village of Brooklyn Park in 1954 and as a city in 1969.
Brooklyn Park's most famous twentieth-century figure is Jesse "The Body" Ventura, the WWE Hall of Fame wrestler who served as Mayor of Brooklyn Park from 1991 to 1995 before being elected Governor of Minnesota on a third-party ticket in 1998. The city has grown from 3,065 residents in 1950 to 86,478 at the 2020 Census — making it the sixth-largest city in Minnesota and the fourth-largest in the metro area.
